I have been binding my unpublished books by hand in very small numbers for family and friends for a number if years. These presentation copies look quite nice with laminated color-printed covers, but the problem is the paper. I can only buy white or whiter-than-white standard letter size 20 lb paper, which is harder on the eyes than the off-white shades used by the printing industry. Most good quality books are printed on pale coffee-colored (POD paperbacks) or various other off-white shades. Pocket paperbacks usually have dirty-looking newsprint type paper. Does anyone know of a source for 20 lb letter size paper in various shades (24 lb is too thick for a book)? Staples has a number of different shades but they are all 24 lb and they say nothing is available in lighter weights. Even 16 lb might do.
