computer programmer book A Good Book on C
I'm a computer programmer and I'm experienced with syntax and such. I was just wondering what a good book on C would be. One that doesn't have exercies. A book that just gives the rules of the language. I've read the Deitel & Deitel book C How to Program third edition, and it just overwhelms me with common programming mistakes and good programming practice. I just want a book that doesn't give me tips, mistakes, exercises. One that just gets straight to the point.

Published by Prentice-Hall. Also consider getting hold of a copy of ISO/IEC 9899:1999, which defines the C language.

That depends on how confident he wants to be that the information he reads is accurate. H&S is an excellent reference book, *but* it is somewhat marred by the occasional error. (People in comp.lang.c may recall specific instances.) K&R has so few bugs it's positively scary.
