canon manual Is this Canon EF lens a 'Full Time Manual' or not?

I'm not yet an EF user, but soon to be. I understood 'Full Time Manual' to mean that you can override the lens's autofucus by just grabbing the focus ring and taking over. The Canon EF 28-135 has a manual/auto switch on the side. However, the Canon web site says it is a 'Full Time Manual' lens. I am surprised an FTM lens has such a switch. What am I misunderstanding here, please?

Even the lenses with FTM have an A-M switch, for when you don't want the AF to function at all.

What am I misunderstanding here, please? 'Full Time Manual' means you can still control the focus using your manus (your hand) while AF is on. If you switch manual/auto to 'manual', you will _have_ to use your manus to adjust the focus. So, FTM is only meaningful if AF is on. Victor

Yes, it implies it, but does not confirm it. The 50mm f1.4 is a micromotor USM, but has FTM, the only exception, as far as I know.
