This is a formal Request For Discussion (RFD) for the creation of a new world-wide unmoderated Usenet newsgroup sci.electronics.repair.video and the creation of a new newsgroup sci.electronics.repair.misc to replace the existing newsgroup sci.electronics.repair. This is not a Call for Votes (CFV); you cannot vote at this time. Procedural details are below. I personally, like the group as it is. I am primarly interested in TV repair but I do ocassionally like to read other post which are not related to TV, such as the How do I repair my Christmas tree light string

For a while after finding the group, I had a problem with the size but have since learned to manage it. For those who haven't figured out how to do it in Netscape, let me outline it. First click on Options, Mail and news preferences, Servers. Set the number of messages to 3500. Next click on Options, Mail and news preferences, Appearances then in Payne Layout, check Split horizonal. If you want larger print click variable width font and text _style_, bold. Play around with this page until you get the messages large enough to easily read them. Now to actually manage the messages, open the top right payne up to full screen. Move the left bar to show all the subject line. Scroll through all the messages clicking the flag on all the ones you want to later come back and read. Once you have picked out and flagged all the messages you want, then click Edit, Select All messages. Next move to Message on the Menu bar and select Mark Thread Read. This marks the whole group as read. Move back to Edit, and click Select flagged messages. Now move back to Messages and click Mark as unread. To clear the read messages and leave only the unread. Click on Options Show unread message. This reloads your message _base_ with only the one's you wanted. It only takes a minute do do this. I know there are lot's of guys who already know how to do this, but in my limited experience with computers, I also know that people sometimes just don't try the setup. It's like, on the service call, you start to tell him how to set his color, and he say's, Oh, I never mess with the controls. The're set just like they were when I got it, and I don't change them. He's had it ten years and never adjusted the controls. <Grin Anyway setting up the news reader is a whole lot easier than reprogrmming an EEPROM.
